    Ancestor Honor Day Honoring
    all who have died for freedom, justice, civil or equal rights as an alternative to Memorial Day, founded in 1996 by Ayo Handy Kendi. Commemorate with Ancestral Alters, Libations, Day of Remembrance

  • JUNE

    Juneteenth Music Festival, Civil War Memorial, 10th & Vermont Ave, N.W. Commemorating the date, June 19, 1865, when the notification of The Emancipation Proclamation was delivered to the enslaved in Galveston, Texas, 2 ½ years after the proclamation was written. AAHA in coalition with Head Roc, the D. C. Juneteenth Music Coalition, D. C. Statehood Green Party. Music, Poetry, Speakers

  • JULY

    July 4th, Fourth of U-Lie Commemoration founded by Ayo Handy Kendi to focus attention on alternative programs, activities and civil actions to stand up for Justice.
