BLACK LOVE BOOK LIST 2023
by Ayo Handy-Kendi, founder African American Holiday Association & Black Love Day
With Black Love Day (BLD), Feb. 13th, Sister Ramunda Lark, owner of Mahogany Bookstore in W.D.C. suggested we create an Anniversary/Annual Book List. I was so grateful for such a suggestion and idea, so that these books will give us Black Love 365 days of the year. Not in any particular order, here are my top 10 Books that have given me new perspectives about my Black Love and how to better share it in our community. I affirm that reading them, will also help you in shifting the collective consciousness towards love as a "solution" to heal all of our relationships.
- Ayo Handy-Kendi, Founder, BLD and AfricanAmericanHoliday Association (AAHA)
P.S. The African American Holiday Association (AAHA) advocates that "reading is fundamental" and as others challenge this right and our book choices, we must stay vigilant, in finding alternative ways to read the books from our African centered, cultural perspective.. So stay tuned as AAHA continues to transform Black consciousness through literacy.
